Shiny and BRIGHT

We want to share a technique that was shared with US! We want to share it because it gives such fantastic results with simple supplies and especially at this time of year with so much bling and gifting, what could be better than personalizing what you create? Joanne Sharpe uses craft foil and a glue stick in her hand lettering tutorial. As shown in Cloth Paper Scissors promotion. Using paper of your choice - Simply write what you want with a glue stick ( UHU glue sticks are fine quality).   Allow to air dry a bit. Then lay craft foil over the glue (shiny side up) and using a Silly Stick as a brayer, rub gently but firmly to transfer the foil to the glue.     Gently peel up one corner to see if it adhered as much as you would like.  If needed, press back into place and use the silly stick again being careful not to tear the foil. Create one of a kind gifts by framing someone's name or their pet's name.   This could be the year you become famous for y

Unique Spin on Bottle Cap Ornaments

I am so excited to bring you a unique spin on bottle cap ornaments... These aren't what you'd normally expect when someone says bottle caps.   Yes, the bottle caps are used for the base of the ornament but from there they look more like a vintage ornament you might find hanging on a tree many years ago!     I started off by punching two holes in each bottle cap  and added a fun collage image  to each cap. I then attached the wired tinsel, glitter, micro beads , mica bits , paper flowers  and more!   Here are close up looks at a few of the ornaments...   Have a wonderful Thanksgiving to the folks here in the United States! Everyone else ~ have a great Thursday!   Ink Stained Roni

Christmas Triptych

Hi everyone, Barbara here with one of my favorite art forms, the triptych.  With the Christmas holidays fast approaching, I wanted to make a Christmas triptych. So, some of you have asked, what is a triptych?  Wikipedia defines it: A  triptych  ( / ˈ t r ɪ p t ɪ k /   trip -tik ; from the  Greek  adjective  τρίπτυχον  ("three-fold"), from  tri , i.e. "three" and  ptysso , i.e. "to fold" or  ptyx , i.e. "fold") [1] [2]  is a work of  art  (usually a  panel painting ) that is divided into three sections, or three  carved  panels which are hinged together and can be folded shut or displayed open. It is therefore a type of  polyptych , the term for all multi-panel works. The middle panel is typically the largest and it is flanked by two smaller related works, although there are triptychs of equal-sized panels. Side 1 - Vintage Christmas Side 2 - Traditional Christmas   Supplies used: Altered Pages collage sheets :  Happy

A Rainy Day in Arizona

We had a fabulous weekend of Boutiques, Wineries and Artful enjoyment.   We started with a local Tempe AZ. Boutique which also has a wine tasting and jazz night to kick off the weekend.   Then we traveled to the land of Karen Elaine Thomas,  the Splash Ink Queen in central Arizona in the high desert.    There are a number of wineries near Sedona and the surrounding area.    We got some treasures to bring home with us.    Dear friends spent the weekend at our home to make it even more enjoyable.   If you ever travel to Arizona, make a trip to Rock Springs.  It is a tiny dot on the map along the major north south highway.   Rock Springs is famous for two things.   "Hogs in Heat", a huge b-b-q which attracts hundreds of bikers who arrive to eat, drink and carry on!   The restaurant and bar has been open since 1918 and is a hodge podge of antique mismatched furniture, the original structure and add-ons.   If you want to immerse yourself in the old west, this is a g

Gift Giving Bows!

We are fast approaching the gift giving season... Who doesn't like to receive a plate full of cookies?  What about a plate full of cookies with a beautiful bow?  This week a friend of mine, Michelle,  posted a bow she made from pages of a magazine.  I thought I could do this with cardstock, so off to YouTube I went. Each bow takes approximately one piece of paper.  So if you run out of bows and need a quick solution... we have it for you ... make your own!!! Hello December

Hi everybody, Gia here. I have a couple of cards to show you that I made with some of the trendy new paper in the store from Glitz Designs. Have you said Hello December yet? Here is what you need to get started: As a card carrying member of the "Occupy Black Friday" movement I am totally against going shopping on Thanksgiving. But, ordering from your favorite online supplier and staying home to make Christmas cards on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday (or any other creative activity) is TOTALLY okay. So go ahead and order away!! Christmas is less than 5 weeks away! (But who's counting) --Thanks for stopping by xo Gia

Angels for your Christmas Tree!

Hi everyone, it's Danie here today.  Are you thinking Christmas yet?  I sort of am, but I am still managing to neglect my card making.....last minute here I come.  I have been doing a lot more drawing and painting of faces and the like lately so when I saw a recent swap for some art dolls I thought it sounded like fun, and although I didn't join the swap I had a play with the shape and now I am addicted to them.  So with Christmas approaching I thought of making some Christmas Angel Art Dolls and even better they can be used as ornaments on your Christmas Tree or even a Gift Tag.  They would also make the most wonderful gift for a friend. The shape of these dolls is a similar to a nesting doll and if you want you could use some of the fabulous collage images available at Altered Pages for your faces if you don't draw them yourself.  I chose to draw mine and add color with my Gelatos using water and a fine brush. I stamped the wings which are layered under my angel

A Little Vintage Elf'n Magic

Hey everyone, Melodee here again. All I can say today is WOW! So much yummy goodness going on here this month I feeling like I have been stuffed with a Thanksgiving Art Feast!! LOL! So many talented design team members and talented patrons as well. Your Elves are so delicious and I am loving what all of you are creating for our November challenge. Speaking of elves, Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I bet it's even beginning to look a little like Christmas around your homes as well. I have been working on some new Christmas ornaments for my own tree this year and decided to create one more little elf ornament for you. I love victorian and vintage so with that in mind here is what I came up with     I created this little rendition of a vintage toy ornament using  some  spools, fibers, glitter, G45 paper and AP's Elves and Gnomes collage kit.          A few bits and baubles from my personal stash of junk'n finds,  a little fussy cutting, embo

Bits & Bobs for the Holidays!

Christmas is only 36 days away! OMG!   Can you believe it! As usual, I am behind! The project I am sharing today is just one of MANY I have in mind before the big day! For these little Spool Angels, I used various bits & bobs from Altered Pages & my extensive stash of such things. Inspired by Pinterest I covered the large spool with some Glitz Joyeux Noel paper & then hammered in nails onto the top edge. Then I added beads & charms to some chain that hangs from the nails. Then I cut out the Angel from the Ivory Angels collage sheet & adhered her to a broken pencil I hot glued into the center of the spool. There's a Religious Saint Medal in there too! For this angel, I painted the spool white & then covered it with the Music Washi Tape before embellishing it with tinsel trim & a vintage rhinestone button. I used some French book pages to give this girl wings. the last Angel sits atop a different spool with tinsel trim
