Quick Canvas Project

Hi everyone , Eunice here from The Little Things  ! I hope your summer is starting off with lots of good things ! I was spending some time in my studio the other day & wanted to create a canvas collage to hang in a vacant spot !! A canvas on the smaller size 7 by 14 ! I painted the background and then added some houses using Glitz Papers  , love there designs !! So I created a little village ( three homes ...size !! ) using mod podge to adhere to the canvas, I added smaller paper pieces for the doors & windows ect. and for some added detail I used the Edges Mini's  , smaller size adorable paper edges , I love love these ! I have found so many uses for these adorable edges ! I sprayed mine with the Maya Road mists  , it is a fabulous way to color something delicate like the Edges Mini's , quick , and also has a little glimmer in it for great detail !  To add more detail on the back ground I used Punchinella ( you HAVE to have that for wonderful collage work )    comes

Dancing gypsies!

Today I wanted to share with you an image that I "altered" using various techniques. It all started with this dancing gypsy I found on the Altered Pages Altered Bits II collage sheet . I just love her! With my photo editing software I cropped and enlarged her. Then I went ahead and did some more editing by inverting the colors, i.e. making her black and the background white. Of course a simpler way would be to enlarge her with copy/printer and cut her out directly, then paste her shape onto black card stock and cut her out again which will give you a nice silhouette. Well, once you have her silhouette or template for that matter, you can make a stencil or a mask for inking, painting or printing! What was really fun for me was using the software from my digital cutter to cut her out. The simple silhouette shape can then be scanned into the computer ( placed on a white paper) and easily converted into a jpeg, svg, png, psd, etc., making her into whatever color, size or shape

A Special Treat Bag For A Special Day

This elegant paper from the Vintage Blue 6 x 6 paper pad by Glitz was the inspiration for the decoration on this bag. Toile is one of my favorite designs so I especially like this paper.  I've spent the last couple of days creating a special card for a wedding we will soon be attending and I noticed this gorgous paper sitting there waiting to be used.  As I worked, I remembered my own wedding and all of the work that went into it and thought about wedding favors for the guests.  Then, I realized that I had the instructions for this little bag and that paper would be perfect to create a party favor bag for each wedding guest so for the fun of it I created this one.  I added the Dance in the Sunshine Ribbon by Glitz to tie the treat bag closed and inked the edges using the Dark Brown Maya Road Ink Cube   to create a frame around the patterned paper that helped to add a little more touch of elegance to it.   Can you see one of these sitting at each guest's seat as they arrive

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.

Creating Beautiful Papers with a Cleaning Solvent

Hi all! Becky here today to share a little tutorial on how to make your own background paper with 3 completely unrelated supplies: A paint brush, a *catalog or magazine {*more on that in a minute} & a bottle of CitraSolv Concentrated Cleaner! If you read my last post , I am using some of these hand-crafted papers in my next kit for AP. Today, I will show you how to make your own! First, you will need a good WELL VENTILATED , plastic-covered working space - THIS STUFF IS SMELLY & the process is messy !! I like to work with it outside & would have done a video for this if I could block out the highway noise! LOL! Then you'll need a bottle of this silly-expensive concentrated natural cleaner - I think I paid $7 for an 8oz bottle at Vitamin Cottage! You can only get this at natural grocers, like Vitamin Cottage & Whole Foods, but some online art supply stores carry it too. The prices are about the same no matter where you go! AND, no other citrus-type clean
